Our first attempt of a time lapse

A time lapse is a certain technique of cinematography in which lots of different pictures are taken over a certain amount of time and put together so that they give the impression of a film with a more original and rustic feel. We felt the need to practice this technique before filming because none of us had experienced creating this effect and we wanted to get a clear idea of what it would look like as we were wanting to incorporate this idea strongly throughout our video. It was a very useful practice as we learnt about the best way to use this camera skill and the settings desired to compose an effective and professional looking sequence. We took these time lapses with a setting called 'interval timing' and used the auto setting for our first attempt. Following this test, we decided it would be better to utilise settings such as shutter speed and aperture to allow the lighting and therefore the overall feel to remain constant throughout the time lapse.
