From doing this audience research task, I have learnt a lot about many different elements surrounding people's personal opinions and ideas about their favourite music and the ways in which they consume it. I interviewed a random selection of people and asked them all many different questions surrounding music genres and their representation within music videos. I found that although everyone seemed to have varying music tastes and preferences and whether or not they personally watch music videos, they appeared to share the same ideas about what a music video should include to become successful. The majority of people said that they would like to see a slightly more unusual video as long as it still had some clear relevance to the physical song itself. I even experienced an interviewee saying what they would hate to see in a video (their answer corresponded to what a mainstream an unoriginal video would include). I am now going to look at each answer from the questions in detail and start to brainstorm about what raw elements I could include in my very own video.
I then took my research a step further and decided to look into specifically the way in which Walkmans or any other portable audio players have also altered the way that we consume our music and also the rate in which we do so. From this area of my research I have learnt just how much of a big player technology is in the structure of how we have access to our music.
