Music Video Directors

Deeper director research by OliviaFoxy on GoAnimate

From completing this research into music video directors I have discovered many different pieces of information surrounding the most famous people who make music videos for society to watch. I discovered that although some directors have very distinctive styles of work and elements that they almost always include in a video (auteur theory), some have a very varying portfolio of work and seem to try something completely different each time they produce a music video. Saying this, a lot of the iconic directors that I have looked into have a background in film or television so that they have a much clearer idea of what the audience want from producing bigger scale pieces demonstrating their work. One factor that I found interesting was the discovery that for some of the best music videos of all time, the name of the director seems to be fairly unknown to the audience, which is why I think that some directors try to create as much controversy and hype surrounding their videos as they can in order for their name to be recognised in society and not just the industry.
