Analysis of Student Videos
From completing this task, I have learnt that the whole impression that a music video sets is extremely important. If you overlook the smallest detail such as a subtle change of location or what kind clothing your 'singers' wear, then the whole video can potentially be jeopardised if not everything looks in place. I have learnt that producing a video takes a whole lot of planning and cannot just be improvised on the filming day. Some of the videos I rated as 'bad' seemed to be built on the idea of improvisation and I felt that this technique didn't work at all. One other factor I came to realise was that although successful music videos can revolve around the theme of love, they don't always have to. For example, a video with slight comedic value or a more upbeat theme can also be a breath of fresh air for the viewers. The final thing I picked up on was the use of editing techniques. When used in moderation, these can be very effective and a brilliant way to add interest to the video. However, if they are over used or simply used in an inappropriate way, they can create the opposite feeling of them being slightly. The ultimate aim for my future music video at this stage is to put forward a sophisticated and almost professional product.
